Civic Fellows Program

Become a part of a one-year paid experiential service program for Mason students.

The Civic Fellows Program matches students with Community Partners to complete 8-10 hours per week of service on a project proposed by Community Partners. Over the course of the academic year, Students will work building relationships with community partners and developing a project or tasks to help a non-profit reach their programming goals.

Civic Fellows are hired as a cohort and participate in training and workshops that will deepen their understanding of social justice, equity and antiracism. Through social justice, communities can be transformed so that all people have access to the resources they need to thrive. All Civic Fellows must commit to up to 8-10 hours of service per week through this partnership and up to two hours of personal, professional and/or leadership training bi-weekly with other students in the program. Through this critical service opportunity, Civic  Fellows will be able to better understand issues in the community, social responsibility and their commitment and connection to change.

Civic Fellows will be matched with Community Partners to complete 8-10 hours per week of service on a project proposed by the Community Partner. Students will engage in a cohort model to participate in pre-service training and professional development workshops throughout the year. As part of the cohort experience, students will be introduced to concepts of social justice, civic learning, and anti-racism.
